The story of the famed Lever Art Collection began with the simplest of household items – soap.  William Hesketh Lever (1851-1925) built a fortune from Sunlight Soap and, with it, built one of the biggest and most varied artistic collections of the 19th century. When his wife died in 1913, Lever created the Lady Lever Gallery in her beloved memory filling it with furniture, sculpture, ceramics and paintings.

Join us to learn about this philanthropist aesthete and the industrial wealth that fueled his passion for collecting.
